Logo

This semester I am taking an Intro To Graphic Design class. It is the toughest class I have this semester. All the work has taken up a lot of my time, and my teacher is really picky. But, I have learned so much from this class. I have learned a lot about the process a graphic designer has to go through (Which is a lot more than I expected), and my design skills have improved while taking this class. Hopefully the next design classes I take won't seem so difficult after this one.
The Picture on the top is a logo I made for an assignment. We had to create a logo using a reptile theme. My "client" was a surfboard company, and I decided to use a turtle as my reptile since it fit with the ocean and surf theme. The process to create this project took the longest out of all the projects, but it was worth it. I think this is the best project I have done the whole semester.

Utah Trip

Twilight the movie

I love the Twilight series. They are my favorite books, besides Harry Potter.
Yesterday I was able to see the movie. Everyone has their own opinion of it, but this is my review.
Many people already know this was a low budget film, and it was very obvious. Whoever did the make-up and hair jobs needs to be fired. The film kind-of reminded me of something that would be shown at a film festival, so it seemed amateurish. I thought it needed better character development. I think in this particular story the characters are more important than the actual plot. The characters are what draw you into the story, but I didn't think the movie did that as well. Everyone also knows this is a love story. Yeah in the book, there were some cheesy parts, but in the movie, some of the "romantic" scenes seemed too laughable.
I thought the character that was portrayed the best was Charlie (Bella's dad), and my other favorites were Alice, and Emmett (they are a couple of the vampires.) I wish they had bigger parts. My least favorite was the actor who played Jasper. During the whole movie his eyes looked like they have been glued open. In the book he is supposed to look emotional, but in the movie they made him look like he's in shock all the time. I couldn't help but laugh everytime he was on the screen; His facial expression was hilarious.
My favorite scene in the whole movie was the baseball scene. It was well done, and I wished it had lasted longer. It was fun to watch.
I really tried not to compare the movie with the book. Obviously it was no where near as good as the book. This film could have used a lot of improvement. Overall I thought it was okay, maybe if I watched it again i would like it better since I'll know what to expect.
But since the movie did so well this weekend the production company decided to make the sequel, New Moon. Hopefully this movie brings in enough money so they will be able to have a larger budget, and create a better movie.

Snowboard

I have a week off for Thanksgiving. So I came to Sandy, UT during my break. Next semester I plan on taking a snowboarding class. So as a Christmas present my parents let me buy a snowboard, and the other equipment that goes with it. I am very excited to take snowboarding!

The LetDowns

In my ward, there is a couple of guys who made up a band called the LetDowns. They both play guitar and make up their own song lyrics that are really funny. I have heard a few of their songs when I've hung out with some guys in my FHE group. They have one talking about Taylor Swift, and a really funny break up song called Earthquake.

On Friday I went to Guitars unplugged where a bunch of bands played and everyone voted for their top three. The LetDowns were one of the groups, and they played a funny song called A Hero Stands Before Us that makes fun of Chuck Norris.

There were other bands that sounded good. I wish some of these bands had a cd. One person had sung his own acoustic version of Beauty and the Beast, another band sung a song that made fun of pick up lines. I thought the group that sounded the best sung a song called Falling slowly. I have never heard this song before, but it was a good performance.

I had a lot of fun watching the bands play. They did a great job.

There's no such things as Fall in Idaho

I'm sorry to those of you who have tried to read my blog, and waited for me to actually write something. I have been busy trying to adjust to college, and sometimes I couldn't think of anything to write. I also noticed that since I did not write on my blog, my typepad account disappeared, so now I have one on blogger. But, now I have finally started.

So when I first arrived to Idaho it was very nice outside. In September the temperature was nice and warm and it still felt like summer. But, as soon as conference was over it was suddenly cold. It actually snowed a little bit today. Back home it wouldn't usually start snowing until January. Summer just skipped over fall and turned into winter. Everyone I know here keeps asking "Why did I come here?" or "What was I thinking?"

Even though it's really cold, I am excited for snow. Someone told me it's supposed to snow five inches on Saturday. That's crazy!
